Justin’s sound is a blend of neo-soul, folk, old-time blues and pop. This guitar slinging aficionado has the street smarts of an urban swinger and the heart-bending soul of a gospel preacher, and is adept at blending a dark, bluesy Americana vibe with warm, acoustic soul where bits of old folk music and flamenco tunes swirl in and out of earshot.
Half Japanese, half American Justin Nozuka was born on Sept 29, 1988 in New York and grew up in Toronto. Raised by a single mother, Justin was the sixth of seven children, where all four of his brothers are artists in some form.
A 2008 Juno nominee for ‘New Artist of the Year’, Justin has a gift of storytelling that makes him wiser than his 21 years.
THE STILLS
7:15 pm - 8:15 pm
Montreal's the Stills are nothing like Interpol, but like those New York City suit-wearing hipsters, the Stills launched their career with a stately post-punk sound inspired by the likes of Echo & the Bunnymen and Joy Division. Having known one another since the age of 12, vocalist Tim Fletcher, drummer Dave Hamelin, guitarist Greg Paquet, and bassist Oliver Crowe played in various bands before forming the Stills in 2000.
As double 2009 Juno award winners (New Group of the Year and Alternative Album of the Year), the Stills are a dominating group among the ever-changing rock scene.
BEDOUIN SOUNDCLASH
8:45 pm - 10:00 pm
This reggae-influenced Canadian band started in its native Kingston , Ontario -- not the traditional Jamaican reggae capital and received a 2006 Juno for Best New Artist.
Bedouin Soundclash formed in 2001, naming the group after Israeli fusion artist/producer Badawi's 1996 release - which pays homage to nomadic Arabic poet tribe the Bedouins. Unlike most musicians who try to mimic their musical idols, Bedouin Soundclash forges their own musical path creating music embodying each member's personal and diverse musical preferences, creating their own innovative fusion of Reggae, Rock, Punk and Soul.

BIG RUDE JAKE
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Big Rude Jake (born A. Jake Hiebert) is a singer, songwriter and jazz musician from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He recorded several albums with different jazz ensembles and musicians, mixing rock, blues, ragtime, swing, rhythm and blues and punk rock together. Some attention was brought to Jake in the late 1990s, during the swing revival.
In 2002, after his fourth album, he disappeared for a while and showed up in early 2006, when he started gigging in Toronto again.
After a change in direction musically and spiritually, all attention is on Jakes’ remarkable transformation from Big, Angry, Bile-spitting Swing Punk to the slim, relaxed White-Soul Rocker.
SERENA RYDER
8:30 pm - 9:45 pm
Serena Ryder is a 2009 Juno Award winner for Adult Alternative Album of the Year (is it ok) and a nominee for Artist of the Year. Born in 1983, Serena is a Canadian singer/songwriter and guitarist who grew up in Millbrook, Ontario, Canada, just outside Peterborough. Ranging musically between folk, roots, country, and adult contemporary, Serena Ryder's three-octave range is powerful and well beyond her years.
Serena grew up listening to old Beatles and Leonard Cohen records she found in her parents' collection. She started singing publicly as a young child, and at 13, after she received her first guitar courtesy of her father, she began to teach herself to play and a few years later she made her first demo tapes.
Pure raw amazing talent is what has garnered Canada's own Serena Ryder such great success and genuine accolades so early in her career.

KATHLEEN EDWARDS
4:15 pm - 5:30 pm
Kathleen Edwards was born in Ottawa , Canada , in 1979, the daughter of foreign service parents who played piano and guitar in their spare time. At five, Edwards began to study classical violin, which continued through her early teens. At that point, the Edwards family moved overseas. Removed from the influence of mainstream North American pop music, Edwards delved into her older brother's collection of Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and early Tom Petty records.
After being hailed as one of the finest and most distinctive singer-songwriters to emerge in 2003, Kathleen Edwards is poised to vault to the front rank of contemporary music.
Her new album, Asking For Flowers, was nominated for Adult Alternative Album of the Year at the 2009 Junos. She says she wanted "to have bare-bones folk songs, but also lush instrumental pieces. Most importantly, I wanted to write songs that tell a story, be it mine or someone else's with honesty and integrity."
